MANCHESTER, N.H. — For the second straight game, the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Reading Royals in double-overtime. Saturday’s outcome was a 3-2 decision at SNHU Arena for the Monarchs over the visiting Royals to give them a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-seven-games series in the North Division Semifinals.
John Muse recorded 53 saves for the Royals despite the loss.
The Royals jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first period as Adam Schmidt netted a power play goal. The Monarchs answered with back-to-back goals in the second period to take the 2-1 lead.
Matt Willows tied the game and ultimately sent it to overtime with a goal in the latter minutes of the second period.
The series moves to Santander Arena for the third game of the series. The third game is Monday at 7 p.m.
