WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Woodchucks are excited to bring back Local Heroes Day with a charity Police vs. Fire softball game honoring Detective Jason Weiland on Sunday, July 8th, 2018.

Gates to Athletic Park will open at 12:30pm and the Police vs. Fire softball game, featuring local Police and Firefighters, will begin at 1:00pm. Stay after the charity softball game as the Wisconsin Woodchucks take on the Rockford Rivets. The pregame ceremony will include recognition on the field for local Military members, Police, Fire, and first responders. First pitch for the Wisconsin Woodchucks game is at 3:05pm.

Kayla Zenner with the Woodchucks says plans for the second annual game began immediately after last year’s event. “They had so much fun last year and they were all saying ‘we want to do this again.’ So they were very supportive and excited and having fun with it.”

A special ticket package is available for the event and includes entrance to both the charity softball game and the Wisconsin Woodchucks game. Tickets are $15 and include a field reserved seat, a grilled bratwurst or all-beef hot dog, and a fountain Pepsi product. $5 from each ticket package will go to the Weiland Memorial Fund.
